Providence Health & Services CT Replacements

From Outdated to Upgraded: Providence CT Replacements

Replacing a complex piece of imaging equipment like a computerized tomography (CT) machine isn’t as simple as taking out the old one and bringing in a new one. To meet the Department of Health (DOH) clearance requirements, the dimensions of the updated machine had to be considered—and so did the size of the room. Knowing this, Providence Health & Services asked Klosh Group to tackle room renovations and expansions when it became necessary to replace four of their aging CT machines.

Four different clinics, four different scenarios

The project involved four different occupied locations in Washington: Lacey, Centralia, and two at the St. Peter campus in Olympia. Each CT clinic was configured differently, requiring four different construction plans and varying levels of renovation. In one case, our team relocated a restroom and reconfigured surrounding areas to make room for the new CT scanner. In another, we built a temporary structure outside the hospital to accommodate a mobile CT unit until the new machine could be installed inside.

Do no harm

While aspects of each project differed, one thing didn’t: the need to protect Providence’s patients. Because many have compromised or weakened immune systems, our team took every precaution to isolate construction spaces and protect all facility occupants. Some of these best practices included risk assessments, temporary partitions, contaminant control procedures, and noise-reducing technology.

This patient-centered approach allowed us to make our construction activities safe, clean, and as non-disruptive as possible. And our deep knowledge of complex DOH standards and requirements ensured that we maintained compliance every step of the way.

All four Providence locations now feature completely renovated CT clinics equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment. Because the new CT scanners are reliable, more patients can quickly access the imaging they need—and with upgraded machines, doctors can provide more accurate and timely diagnoses.

It’s outcomes like this that inspires us to bring our best to healthcare projects.
